The Gnome’s First Attempt at a New Invention
The gnome, gnome, old
Fawley Wessar
Built a new one
Quite a tester
A new invention
Crafting ably
Hoping he that
It work stably
He spun the gear
And pressed quickly
Buttons poofing
Fog came thickly
Wiped his glasses
Twitched his noses
Wondering why
It wasn’t roses
This thing should work
He told himself
Or I’ll put it
Up on a shelf
The gnome, gnome, from
Gunkapaloo
Carried a box
Shaped like a shoe
A gnome shoe, true
What would you do?
If you, too saw
A gnomish shoe?
Gnomes are plenty
And quite handy
At building stuff
Stuff that’s handy
A handy gnome
Better suited
To invention
Horns a’ tootin’
Worked all day and
Never quitting
Grew so tired
Time for splitting
The gnome, old gnome
To home at last
Dinner in bed
Unembarrassed
The gnome, old gnome
In gnomish style
Fell fast asleep
With wink and smile
