Paelstor
Ramelan is a character in the world of magic I call Paelstor—a setting for my books.
Though Paelstor is not mentioned in any of the songs, allusion is made to Ramelan’s desert homeland, its capital city, and its queen, whom he falls in love with. (“The Curse,” and “Queen of the Desert”)
Ramelan lives in the underworld, tethered by his duties as its god and caretaker. He is able to come to land in a limited way by means of a portal into his desert tomb. Otherwise, he is only seen by those who die as he shepherds them to the other side. (“The Curse”)
As Ramelan writes his songs in his garden in hell, he reaps the dreams of the souls of the departed. In other words, he can learn from the memories and dreams of any who enter his realm. (“Enter the Garden”)
It‘s in this way that he learns of the impending war with Chaos, the ancient evil of Paelstor; as well as the prophecy of the “hero to save us all.” This is the topic of the first album, “The Curse of Ramelan.”
The stories are interwoven with the songs as they span across the trilogy of albums.
More is yet to come, as the second and third albums still await us all.
