The Fear Grid, Part 11

(CONT’D)
Purity was in the clouds. Literally. In a holographic representation of a cloud hanging above the eastern seaboard of the United States. She sat with a peculiar woman in an all-white dress suit. The woman looked towards her with earnest intention.

Gabriela asked pointedly, “What will you do, Purity? Will you help us and your world? Will you be a healer and a force for light and love?”

Purity sat there in her pink, fluffy cloud chair, staring at this odd woman, pondering her life and the great decision she was being presented with.

What on earth can I say? Purity thought to herself. There seems to be only one choice that makes sense…

“I’m in…” she said with more hesitation than she had intended to infuse in those words.

“Are you sure?” Gabriela wondered.

“Yes,” Purity declared with more confidence.

“Great. Then we are happy to have you with us.”

“Um, you keep saying ‘us,’ but so far I’ve only met you…”

Gabriela smiled broadly. “Right. There are many who wish to meet you.” She winked and stood up from the cloud seat. Then she walked towards Purity and extended her hand, arm long and lithe in her crisp, white suit jacket. A diamond ring shaped like the sun shone from her finger.

“Come with me,” the mysterious woman invited.

Purity, too, stood from the pink, fluffy seat she’d been cozily lounging in. She took Grabiela’s outstretched hand in her own, noting how soft and pure the woman’s skin was, unnaturally so.

“You’ve seen the dark side, so to speak,” Gabriela commented. “Now, perhaps you will more fully appreciate its opposite, a place full of light.” Her smile overtook her face from ear to ear, full of kindness, love and appreciation.

As Purity stood there next to Gabriela, holding the woman’s hand, the world around her swirled in marvelous colors. The pink and white clouds; bright, blue sky; the red-orange-yellow of the sun; deep, blue sea; and the green-brown sprawl of land below all spiraled together in a whirlwind of holographic magic. A howling wind blew circles around them, whistling in Purity’s ears and blowing her hair across her face.

Then the whirlwind narrowed into a tunnel, becoming a tall tornado of light and color. It thinned so much that is became compact as a line, leaving the rest of her vision devoid of any form at all. It was like no place Purity had ever been, except maybe in dreams.

The line lifted from below her and straight above without end, right between Purity and Gabriela. It felt as though it drew them into it, and suddenly they were one with the line of rainbow-swirled light. There was a whooshing feeling of being sucked up, as if by a vacuum cleaner, but it did not hurt or even remotely squeeze Purity. It just felt so odd, impossible to describe in words.

And then all of that disappeared and a new vision was before them both. A vision familiar with form and life, but unlike any place that Purity could have imagined.

It was a snapshot of heaven itself, a sort of paradise. It was semi-city like, or more like a city park, with white tiled streets forming grids where only pedestrians could be seen meandering with not a care in the world. Between the lanes were verdant green squares of grass, filled with more colors of flower than could be found in even the biggest box of crayons.

And there was a wall along one side, white and shimmering. It glowed and pulsed with energy. Blobs of color twinkled throughout like drops of paint on a canvas. It was tall and inspired awe, and clearly was the border of something much greater.

The people in this place all glowed, too, vibrant and full of life. They dressed in fine robes that looked like the type of clothing that holy people or gurus might wear. Yet these people had no pretense of any kind. Their faces beamed love, their smiles pure, and as they passed by their nods of greeting were full of acceptance. Overall their health and well-being seemed immaculate, and their inherent beauty was truly out of this world.

All save one face that looked far too familiar. And terrestrial.

“Purity!” cried Leo, the boy Purity’s friend Grace had taken to the dance. He waved and smiled from behind a crowd of people down the road. Pushing past them he ran towards Purity and Gabriela.

“Leo?” Purity uttered, truly confused. “What are you doing here?”

“Same thing you are,” he pointed out as if it were obvious.

“Leo has been visiting us for some time, actually,” Gabriela explained to Purity. “But recently he has been able to begin the training that you, too, will enjoy.”

“I don’t understand…” Purity struggled. “How has he been coming here…? I just never would have…”

“Expected me to be here?” Leo finished her sentence with a wry smile. “Rude.” Then he snickered to himself. “I’m kidding with you.”

“Leo met us in his dreams as a child,” Gabriela maintained. “His young soul was uniquely open to the light and he could see us in his day-to-day, which most people have lost the ability to do. Yet could he see us more powerfully by night, in dreams. So we have gotten to know him for some time. In fact, he is the one who directed us to you. Though we did have our eyes on you already for your powerful, loving heart.”

“You can tell that? How?” Purity was clearly out of her element on all of this.

“We see the love and light in all, actually,” Gabriela confessed. “But when a soul shines more brightly due to their own life choices and their particular focus… we cannot miss them. They are as brilliant stars among a dim night sky.”

“So you’re saying that Leo and I… that we shine brighter than most people…? And that others…” She was lost for words.

“You are no brighter or better than anyone else. Let me be clear on that,“ Gabriela lectured. “Everyone has the potential to be bright. It is always about the choices each one makes, each and every day. To choose to be joyful and free, honest and true. Or to be deceitful, mean, selfish, controlling… The former will make you light, the latter will lead into darkness. But all can return from the darkness. That is why we do what we do here. To lead people back to the light.”

“And what is this place?” Purity looked around her, eyes wide.

“This,” Gabriela boasted, rotating her torso and spreading her arms wide to take in the whole vista around them, “is the Crystal Palace!” A flash of light and color extended out in all directions, enunciating the woman’s words and emphasizing the beauty of the place.

Leo smiled and watched Purity as she looked around and took it all in, her jaw dropped in awe.

One thing of note was just how brilliant and vibrant the place was. Perhaps this was due to the countless lights and candles blazing in every direction. There must have been hundreds, maybe thousands, especially as Purity gazed upon the great shimmering wall. Or maybe the place simply had an energy to it that gave it such warm beauty. But it captivated Purity, especially the wall.

“Yes,” Grabiela nodded as Purity gazed at the wall. “ That is the Crystal Palace itself. We are in the grounds outside. You could call it a garden or cloister, if you wish.”

“A cloister’s like a fancy word for a garden in a castle,” Leo educated.

“Yea, I know… I’ve just never been in one,” replied Purity.

“Well, what do you say? Want to take a stroll around?” Gabriela gestured wide.

“Well, I’ll see you later, Purity,” Leo said, taking his leave. He waved and walked off, then paused for a moment and added, “Oh, and it’s good to see you here. Glad you joined us.” A final smile and he was off, dashing and jumping at speeds that surprised Purity, then leaping full speed into the air and over the wall.

Gabriela needed no help reading Purity’s face. “He can do that here. So will you, some day. When you believe enough. There are no rules here, like on Earth. Well, there are, but not like you think. But you will be able to move freely here and perform feats that you cannot now imagine.”

“Like what?” Purity asked. “Besides leap over walls like Superman…”

The woman in white laughed. “Well, for starters,” she said, “this…”

Then Gabriela walked to a candle nearby, raised it up in one hand and before them grew an illuminated, expanding bubble of light. It lifted above them into the air and as if on queue, others in the vicinity offered their lights as well. Soon there streams of candlelight all over joining into the bubble of light, making it ever and ever larger. When it looked to be at maximum capacity, a red hue formed around it like a halo. Then the whole thing burst like the bubble it appeared to be, sending warm light in rushing waves to all those who stood present.

When Purity felt the light come to her it passed right through her heart. It rocked her body as if pushed, but didn’t hurt. Instead it gave her a feeling unlike anything she’d ever experienced. It felt like pure love, warm and inviting and unconditional. It lifted her heart, eased her mind, and gave her this invulnerable sense that anything was possible with the right amount of faith. All felt as one, connected, unified, and her sense of self merged with the infinite in that moment. It was lovely and glorious and it didn’t last.

As it passed it left a feeling of separation and a hint of loneliness. At the same time, the experience was not forgotten, nor did Purity feel it would quickly or ever wholly be gone. Still, the sense of normalcy she’d lived most of her life in returned with surprising alacrity.

“What was that?” Purity gasped. “It felt great, like I’ve never been so alive, never known myself so well.” Her face turned sour. “Then it was gone, like it never happened. But it did. Just, I wish it would have stayed. How cruel to be teased like that by such a feeling that I cannot hold on to. It’s like a drug, and I could see myself being addicted to it…” Her words lost steam.

“Haha,” Gabriela laughed again. “That, my dear, is the pure vibration of love as it travels in light. That is no drug and what a wonderful thing it would be to be, as you would say, ‘addicted’ to it. But there is no such addiction with any sense of lack, or needing, or danger or side effects. It is the purity of creation. And it can be held. In fact it’s purpose is just that, to be held by one and all, forever. You only experienced it now in momentary expression because you are not ready, knowing, or believing enough to hold it lastingly. But hold you will, some day, as you learn and prepare yourself. Does that seem like something you wish to do?”

“Yes,” Purity nodded. “Yes, by all means, yes!”

“Then I suggest we start training as soon as possible,” Grabiela smiled. “But first, why don’t you get familiar with the lay of the land here. Explore at your will, I will find you later. And if you have any questions feel free to ask literally anyone. All here are your brothers and sisters now. Welcome to the Division of the Light, Purity.”

Gabriela winked at Purity and left her to her own devices.

Purity spied around her, trying to decide where she wanted to go first. She thought it best to let her heart guide her.

So she eyed the wall, wondering at a way in that didn’t require her performing feats usually reserved to comic book heroes.
