The thought occurred to me one day how funny it is to claim certain events—like for insurance purposes—as an “act of God.” As if everything else weren’t!
When a storm destroys a home it’s an act of God. But when the flower blooms, it’s just a natural process?
I was going to write one of my typical blogs about this topic, but realized I didn’t have much more to say than this intro. Except then I felt inspired to do a poem to capture the feeling of it. Haven’t done a poem in a while.
Enjoy.
Everything Is an Act of God
Everything is an act of God
From the rising of the sun
To the time the day is doneEverything is an act of God
Indeed, the first breath of life
And the overcoming strifeEverything is an act of God
The animal, plant and rock
The thunderous lightning shockEverything is an act of God
Your blood pulsing through your veins
And the healing of your painsEverything is an act of God
The wonders of humankind
The amazing things we findEverything is an act of God
All children’s joyful laughters
Happily ever aftersEverything is an act of God
The making of the cosmos
That you believe it almostEverything is an Act of God
Thank you for reading. And remember, God is in everything.
Blessings to all,
Matthew
